LIPS: Help for Plumping Thin or Wrinkled Lips


My lips were so wrinkled that even at age 44 a male makeup consultant changed the subject to teach me how to pile gobs of dark gooey lipstick on top to fake smooth, thicker lips. He was right, there are things models know how to do with thin lips that don't cost much.

Cosmetically, for thin lips, you want
  • LIGHT colored lipstick - light light light pinks. You might think your lipstick is light. Compare it with the favorite of the models, Revlon's Silver City pink, to be sure. That may not be your exact shade but if you have thin lips, it's the kind of "lightness" you'll need.
  • Thick gloss helps, too! And I get more compliments when I use Lip Venom than any other gloss product.

    Lip wrinkles / lines are caused by a lot of things all of which I did and had! Sun damage breaks down the skin. Movements that purses your lips (sucking, sipping, eating, smoking ) use muscles that squeeze the skin over and over - and may break down the subcutaneous fat, as well. Genetic predisposition plays a part, too. I used to smoke but my younger, non-smoking sister has the same lip lines that I have (poor baby!)

    Things to watch out for in our experience:
     And, what no one is talking about except the ladies in the office is the fact that more lip wrinkles seem to occur after :
  • electrolysis (poke poke poke)
  • skin cancer lesion remedies (like topical chemotherapy)
  • and in my case... (drum roll) collagen injections! (Read my experience!)
    We gals who have "grouped" to "focus" on this (does that make us a focus group?) in waiting rooms and grocery store lines decided that these procedures must break down the integrity of the skin and/or fat layer!

    Meanwhile, in pursuit of lip plumping and repair, I sat in the waiting room of the most-sought-after aesthetician in Paris February 2004, waiting to talk to him about fillers and injections. I stared for two hours at women of all ages with these big, albeit well-shaped, fake mouths they had paid fortunes for and decided only one girl looked truly beautiful - and she was 24 and a model! I finally left without seeing the doctor having decided... natural-looking, thin lips are much prettier than fake-looking lips any day.

    Lip fillers work, no doubt, but meanwhile there are a lot of less invasive things we can try. I threw a ton of money at the problem and found some good products.
